HIM guitarist MIkko Lindstrom has thrown his weight behind the Bad News Download 2011 campaign.
Next year marks the 25th anniversary of Bad News’s seminal Monsters of Rock appearance at Donington and Finnish axeman Linde wants to join them on stage.
He says: “If they do it, I would be honoured to open for them.”
Back in 1986 these wayward rock legends – frontman Vim Fuego, bassist Colin Grigson, guitarist Den Dennis and drummer Spider Webb – nearly brought the stage down as the crowd as one roared “F’k off Bad News.
Those in the know realised that the guys behind the hair and spandex were in fact Young Ones stars Ade Edmondson, Rick Mayall and Nigel Planer along with Comic Strip collaborator Peter Richardson.
But who could forget the rousing energy of songs like Warriors of Genghis Khan, Bitch Hell Mother, You Are a Shit Audience and anthem Bad News? Certainly no one who was there, no matter how much they'd like to.
Yeah, everyone's doing Facebook campaigns now, but this one is worth your attention... because organiser Nick Holmes believes at least one member of the band is up for a reunion, and there's a chance he could talk the others into it.
Nick says: "In the wake of numerous farcical reunions over the last few years, and some who have remained farces all along, this is one reunion the world needs. Join us and the might Warriors of Genghis Khan will ride once more! Hopefully.”
The Facebook group now has more than 1800 members- but a few more wouldn’t hurt
