Got It In The Box !!!!
Yesterday was a big ugly jagged piece of useless sandstone....and I'm not talking about Ozzy... buy today, I got Black Label Society - 1919 ETERNAL
Not a lot, but great none the less. A day with Zakk Wylde is always a great day.

5 cds in the mail...and only 3 for me. My wife got another Brad Paisley cd...and say what you want about country music...this guy is an amazing guitar player...he does a "shred" instrumental on each cd and has blown me away each time...yes its bluegrass...but shit...skill is skill. Also got a Drivin' N Cryin' cd that i ordered but already owned so yay Wade you get another cd today.
Now the cds that are mine:
Soulmotor - Revolution Wheel... second cd from a band that has Tesla member Brian Wheat on bass and ex UFO guitarist Tommy McClendon on guitar...bought this on a whim...I remember not being that impressed with the debut but this was real cheap and at heart i am a completist
Skillet - Collide...Yes the band that Aaron turned us onto in his amazing Halloween trivia...well got the cd...have not listened yet
Cheap Trick - Special One w/DVD...like Wade with his Blue Oyster Cult...I am going to be adding much Cheap Trick to my collection in the next few months...I love bands that sound like them... Enuff Z'Nuff, Crash Street Kids etc.

2 cds from importcds...one of the best sellers on Amazon marketplace...well packaged and always new without cutout marks or UPC hole punches...anyway the first cd is
The Mob - The Mob ok yes I have been on a Reb Beach kick and this adds to it as he plays guitar all over this bad boy and singing is Doug Pinnick from Kings X...Drumming is Kelly Keagy from Night Ranger and playing Keys is Timothy Drury from Whitesnake,Solo,Yes,Don Henley,Stevie Nicks etc...and playing bass and producing is Kip Winger
The other cd is a Kevin Kinney solo cd called Sun Tangled Angel Revival...now for those of you who are going huh? He is the vocalist chief song writer with a band called Drivin' n Cryin' one of the best kept secrets of the 90's. Kind of like Bob Dylan meets the Black Crowes... and since Drivin' an' Cryin' have a new cd coming out soon...or already came out...hard to tell..think it already has...anyway thought it was time to expand that part of my musical world

What did you think of this one. I checked out what was available on youtube and was surprised at how mellow the tunes were. In all fairness I haven't listened to WASP in probably 25 years (damn that's a big number) so I am not familiar with their recent output, but I was really surprised by what I heard. I did really like the Deep Purple cover which I listened to last and after that I had to go back and listen to the rest again. On the second listen Babylon's burning really got me mainly because of the lyrics but the other two (crazy and into the fire) really did nothing for me. I still love Blackies voice though.

I am surprised that you do not care for Crazy...it is my favorite track on the cd. Blackie does have a fantastic voice and it has aged pretty. When I first heard Crazy I was like you another love, lust song but then I read an interview with Blackie and where he says the song is about idol worship...basically celebrity worship that is so prevalent in the United States. Putting them on a pedestal and worshiping them ala Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley etc. How he does not want or need that and that it is pretty scary (he says it way more eloquently than me. You can check out the interview here. Anyway i do enjoy the cover of Burn and love Babylon Burning...but one of the highlites for me was the cover of the Chuck Berry song Promised Land....so good. Anyway thanks for listening and posting...when you are cut you bleed pure awesome

What I got today...in the mail
Today is a special day for sure.
Today I finished with all the current ( hopefully more coming out soon) Black Label Society Cd's.
Today, in the mail, I received: Black Label Society - Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live + 5 and it is really awesome.
Zakk does No More Tears ( an Ozzy song) and Snowblind ( a Black Sabbath song) and they both sound like Black Label Society.
Neither song does he attempt to sound like Ozzy or does the song sound like the original. Guess Zakk wont get fire from this band for sounding too much like Ozzy.
I love Zakk....

Re: Whats in the Mail Today
After 11/17/2009 and 11/18/2009 delivered me big fat honking rocks...
11/19/2009...yes good mail
Cheap Trick - Rockford...their second most recent release...good stuff...but its CHeap Trick ...have to say with each CT cd I get Robin Zander climbs higher on my list of singers...he has fantastic range and emotion in his delivery...quite awesome really
Lynch/Pilson - Wicked Underground...Somehow I messed this cd when it came out in 2003... holy shit is George Lynch a helluva guitarist...muscular, technical and smooth...have to pick my jaw up a couple times...this is an amazing Dokken cd.
Crumb Bros. - The State of Your Mind...another cd featuring Jeff Kollman. Not at all what i expected. I need to have Wade listen to it and describe the sound...maybe Modern Mellow? I like it...listening now great singer. The guitar is mostly acoustic with the electric guitars only used as a highlighter. Almost Floydish in places...sometimes Nirvanaesque intriguing as all hell...I thimk it will be a grower
