Re: Whats in the Mail Today
These are the first cds i've got through the mail in months. In fact, they are they first cds I've purchased in months. I think Rock Dungeon is starting to have a (un)desirable affect on me. I hope I'm not infected.
Koffin Kats - Koffin Kats (the most anticipated of the bunch. Some selections stronger than others but I know it's one i'll love in the long run. It's got Graveyard Tree on it, how can I not love it.)
The Creepshow - Sell Your Soul (This one is great. I guess you could call it a psychobilly take on No Doubt with a Joe Henry and Meatloaf tune thrown in for good measure.)
The Order of the Fly - Hollow Voices of a Dead Generation (This one surprised the hell out of me. I bought this for one song, Rot. But this is a great cd all the way through.)
Calabrese - The Traveling Vampire Show (Wah Oh Wah Oh. Hell Yeah.)

Sorry that was misleading. They didn't actually cover a Joe Henry or Meatloaf song but The Garden sounds a lot like Mr. Henry and they've got another tune that has the back and forth play the Paradise by the Dashboard lights had. Just the same feeling really, doesn't sound like Meatloaf at all.

Re: Whats in the Mail Today
Creepshow has a female vocalist as well (ears perk up) I love the interplay between a guy and gal duet in an aggressive song. I am Ghost was a phenomenal band that had the guy girl dynamic but on latest cd just guy...actually not even half as good

Tom Waits - Glitter and Doom (I know I'm biased but I thought it was great. He's obviously down to his last shredded vocal chord (I think it's the low E) but In my opinion he still sounds good. The Bonus CD Tom Tales was also a pleasant surprise. One of the things I like best about his live stuff are the stories and banter he throws in between his songs.)

Re: Whats in the Mail Today
Good job Chris and right on the money. I have mixed feelings about Glitter and Doom. I love the aliveness of it, and the originality of it, but at times it seams Tom is going to far and sounds like he is doing a satire on himself. The more I listen the more I love it. I definitely think it was a have to have CD. It's fun to listen to, and the story cd that can with the music cd is awesome.
I got, along with Tom Waits / Glitter and Doom :
Demon / Taking the World by Storm [ great classic heavy rock...I liked it before but took a while to get it on cd. Never had this cd though, but The Plague was an incredible album]

Re: Whats in the Mail Today
No Mail. This comes from trips to 3 different used cd stores. Only one worth returning to.
Crooked X (Loved This CD. Thanks Mike)
Calabrese - 13 Halloweens (Can't believe I found this used in Kansas. Appreciate the pimpin Wade)
The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black - The Anti-Naturalists (Seems like they are all about the stageshow and forgot about the music. Glad I only paid $2 for this)
Against Me - New Wave (Should have took the title literally. Nowhere near as good as Reinventing Axel Rose)
Nuclear Tribunal - Attack of the Salami-Smokers from Venus (By the album and song titles I figured it would be some decent cheese. Turns out to be a cookie monster thrash band)
How to Start a Fight! - various artists (compilation of known and unknown (at least to me) punk bands. Nothing special but I liked it)
The Black Keys - Attack & Release (Definitely the Black Keys but A lot mellower than their older stuff. Enjoyed it though)
Dan Auerbach - Keep it Hid (1/2 of the Black Keys. Even mellower than Attack & Release. Still enjoyed it)
The Morning Shakes - Lotta Trash! Lotta Action! (Little bit of punk rockabilly I guess)
The Phenomenauts - Rockets and Robots (Was expecting some Aquabats ska but was more hillbilly rockabilly or something like that)
Drive By Truckers - Brighter than Creation's Dark (The more I hear this band the more I like them)
The rest I got for a buck and think they were well worth it.
Skankin' Pickle - SkaFunkRastaPunk
Redd Kross - Phaseshifter
Drivin N Cryin - Smoke
Frehley's Comet - Live +1

I Love you.... and I gotta say how could a band with a album called the Salami Smokers from Venus be a cookie monster band...must be from the same country as Vampire Mooose... the bastards... that is false advertising.
Your dollar buys are quite good love me some Drivin' n' Cryin' I have that cd ...not as good as some of their others but well worth the dollar...and Ace Frehley Live +1 good deal...not familiar with your other dollar buys

Skankin' pickle for a $, good choice! If you liked them you need to check out The Toasters and some Let's Go Bowling.
Redd Kross was another good choice, ever since I saw the McDonald brothers in Spirit of '76 I bought a CD just to check them out and I've been a fan ever since!!!

Was only familiar with Drivin N Crying from the radio play they got back in the day. Fly Me Couragious is still a great tune. I probably would have passed this one up if you hadn't mentioned them on your show. I enjoyed it, thanks. The dollar buys were actually some of the best of the bunch.

The Redd Kross CD was great. Jimmy's Fantasy was an awesome tune. Can't wait to get a hold of more. Thanks for the recommendations too. The Toasters were a little tame for my tastes but I loved me some Let's Go Bowling.

Re: Whats in the Mail Today
Most of these are from the Interpunk 50% off sale.
The Atomic Bitchwax - Boxriff (I can thank Allroy for this one. This cd rocks, it's the best of the bunch)
Supersuckers - Paid (Only 6 songs but supersuckers songs are worth twice their weight in gold)
Cretin 66 - Demolition Safari (a mix of rock and punk. Great CD)
Wau Y Los Arrrghs!! - Cantan En Espanol (Spanish garage rock. It's got a 2005 date but sounds like the 60's)
Various - The L.A. Shakedown (like most comps, some good some bad, but it does include Nashville Pussy)
Raped - The complete Raped punk collection (Must have been a short lived band with only 6 studio songs, and I can see why)
Totally Radd!! - Shark Attack Day Camp (a 1 man tribute to video games. very good if you are into that sort of thing. fortunately, I am)
Redd Kross - Neurotica (not as good as Phaseshifter, but still decent)
Uncle Brain - It Just Seems Right (standard pop/alternative rock)
Bob Log III - School Bus (funk blues in almost a standard blues style. a pretty good offbeat blues cd.)
Let's go Bowling - Freeway Lanes (I've heard much better by this band)
Slim Cessna's Auto Club - Always Say Thank You (It's country with styles ranging all over the place. Includes several excellent songs and several I don't care for at all.)
Clutch - The Elephant Riders (Wishbone is awesome, the rest are ok)
Flight of the Conchords - I Told You I was Freaky (not as much of a mixed bag of musical styles as their previous efforts but I am sure I'll like it with some more listens.)
William S. Burroughs - Break Through in Grey Room (Spoken word, not music. I just like Burroughs)

I'm Jealous... I want some Orange Goblin really bad. If you find something in these groups that is way above anything else, let us know... we will play some, and probably buy some.
Thinking Atomic Bitchwax might be in my future....

I have another way to spend your money--The Datsuns' self titled, it's in my words, inner ear mind candy and tastey to the last note. This disc definately deserves a listen to! \m/
