I'll second the Atomic Bitchwax. I haven't heard "II" but I recently got the boxriff EP and I can't stop listening to it. I see all the rest of their stuff in my future as well.

I've resorted to digging through the dollar bins. Don't think I did too bad for $4.

Loudspeaker - Re-vertebrate (similar to atomic bitchwax and the datsuns, but more on the metal side)
Various - The Fall and The Rise / Los Angeles (a mixed bag of heavy, some good some not)
Helios Creed - Kiss to the Brain (Sci Fi Avante Garde Rock?, remind me a little of Primus on some songs)
Z - Shampoohorn (the Zappa brothers playing Zappa style rock.)

There was plenty of that in there. Must have been 500 cd's and I found 4. Believe me, I know about living in the armpit. Honestly, I don't know how some of this stuff ends up here. I'm still amazed that I found a Calabrese CD at this same place. It's mind boggling.

Lucky you. I haven't seen a dollar bin since the days of the Albums.

The Answer--Never Too Late (EP)...(Only 4 songs on the CD but it also has a DVD too! Score!!)

Year Long Disaster--The Year Long Disaster...(In the same vain as Atomic bitchwax and The Datsuns)

Eloy - Planets... Gotta agree Allroy Eloy is awesome... I played it a little safer than you and got the cd with the song I played on Rock Dungeon

Sons of Seasons - Gods of Vermin... Fantastic power/symphonic metal with the key player from Kamelot who is quickly rising up my charts as one of my fave key players. The singer is a little gruffer than my Love Roy Kahn but some great stuff... plus Simone Simons from Epica is on a couple of tracks (and the cover of the special edition).

Annihilator - Alice In Hell... Canadian thrash metal from 1989... HOLY SHIT this is fucking awesome...except the singers name...Randy Rampage... really pretty amazing... Jeff waters is so melodic and amazing what a guitarist... sounds a little dated but I need to get some more current stuff

Poets & Pornstars - S/T... Yes Virginia there is still a pulse of rock in L.A. Wow tale a little sleaze and mix with AC/DC and shake well and this is what will come rolling out. Fantastic... toss in a little stones while I think about it. Yes Virginia the U.S. can still rock

    Atomic Bitchwax - Spit Blood
    Atomic Bitchwax - 3
    Atomic Bitchwax - Tab 4

As you can tell, I love this band. Of these 3 cds, none have the same lineup. They changed a member each one. Luckily 3 and 4 have the same singer as the Boxriff EP I've already got and have the same sound as well. Split Blood is an earlier release and is more straight ahead rock than the crunchy wall of sound their later releases became. All three are great though.

    Atomic Bitchwax - Atomic Bitchwax

Includes the studio versions of several of the live tunes on the boxriff cd so I new I would like it before I played it and it is every bit as good as I thought it would be. Had to buy the cd by itself to get it for under ten bucks but it was well worth it and, with a little help from Allroy, I've now got their complete collection.

    Solarized--Driven

    Solarized--Neanderthal Speedway

Heavy Metal Kids--Hit the Right Button...Really wanted one with Gary Holton on vocals but couldn't find an affordable CD so I go this one instead. Danny Peyronel is still on Keyboards but he's also handling lead vocals, and is handling them very well in my opinion,I'm REALLY diggin' on this band!!

Electric Angels--Electric Angels...I got this on cassette back in late '90 or early '91. I really liked it but soon it became lost in my increasing music collection. Rediscovered it on Amazon.com and purchased it. Glad I did because I still think this is a really great record!! They've been described as a cross between The Replacements and Hanoi Rocks.

I have the Electric Angels on cd (of course) Love Rattlesnake Kisses... unfortunately this came out with the glut and is generally overlooked by most fans of the genre... I believe this is the only thing they did which is sad

Danny Peyronnell is with UFO on a couple of cds playing keyboards. Just got all 3... I know I am going to like it... thank you Greg

Not in the mail, but picked up the following @ Half Price Books last night. so much great stuff I felt like I was raping the place. Er, so to speak.

    NOFX - The decline (punk)
NOFX - Greatest Songs Ever Written (best of)
    Cure - Bloodflowers
And You Will Know us by the Trail of Dead - Source tags and codes (I couldn't remember if this was metal or indie rock, it's the latter)
John Vanderslice - Cellar Door (indie rock)
Sonic Youth - Confusion Sex (their 2nd album, from '83)
Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning (I haven't been crazy about them in the past, but I'll give them another go because of your show... if I don't like one of you or a listener can have it)
Stereolab - Refried Ectoplasm (indie rock singles comp)
    Warped Tour '06 - 26 bands, some I like, some I don't, a bunch I've never heard of)
Til Tuesday - Everything's Different Now (I love Aimee Mann - I think I already have this one though)
Aimee Mann - I'm With Stupid (gotta love an album where the first line of the first song is "you fucked it up")
The Spinanes - Manos (early 90's indie rock on Subpop)

    12 cd's

    $20 after 20% off coupon.

I love Helios Creed, and that album in particular. I also like his former band, the mighty Chrome, who were way advanced for the 70's. Precursors to Industrial music. In outer space.

I like this quote from Wikipedia:

Creed has said that he invented his trademark sound while trying to replicate the sound he heard in his head while "listening to Black Sabbath on LSD on headphones when I was a teenager."

I wish we had stores like that here as well. We've got an abundance of half price books but you usually can't find a CD in there under $9. I did get that Helios Creed for a buck though, although at a different store, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Voices Carry is a Til Tuesday song, which Aimee Mann was the singer in (and main writer I believe). Her solo stuff is similar, but much less 80's Smile

Yeah, Half Price Books is great. I usually only check out their clearance section where discs are $2, and occasionally $1. The only down side is that most of it sucks, and there is hardly any Metal. The only time I've gotten decent metal is one time they had hard rock cd's specifically on clearance. That was nice.

Thats what I meant... I find the older I get the more i like the new wave '80s stuff. She does have a beautiful voice...and now once again Voices Carry is stuck on repeat in my head... thanks

I received Queensryche - American Soldier in the mail today. Not a strong release by any means but I applaud what they were trying to accomplish. Still, there is some good stuff on here....just nothing to compare with their earlier output. Still if nothing else I am a completist and need to have everything by a band that I do love

After the valentines shows I felt a sudden urge to complete my Pete Krebs collection (you both are such a bad influence on me). Had to start with a trip to the used cd store to satiate my new music fix, got 2 for a dollar and 2 for full price, guess which ones I like the best? The Krebs I got from Ebay and Amazon, a few of which are still on the way.

The Bronx Casket Co. - Sweet Home Transylvania (made up of former members of Misfits, Overkill, Shotgun Symphony and Matlium, the last two I've no idea. I assume this is more Overkilly than the rest but I was expecting some punk horror. A good rock album just not what I was expecting. There is a song on here called Black Valentine that I love though.)

Rumpelstiltskin Grinder - Buried in the Front Yard (With the band name and the album title I was definitely not expecting thrash metal. Damn burned again.)

Screaming Bloody Marys - Get In, Get Off, Get Out ($1 - what a steel. Was expecting thrash on this one and it turned out to be pure punk. A mix of the Ramones, the Dead Milkmen and some others. Awesome.)

Son of Eve - Dollar Shots ($1 - last thing I was expecting on this one was rap. but lo and behold, that is what it was. It is in the vein of G-Love and Special sauce so I'm ok with it. Worth a buck anyway.)

Pete Krebs - Western Electric (I'd put this behind his other solo albums but it's definitely Pete Krebs enjoyable.)

Pet Krebs / Golden Delicious (Thought this was a Pete Krebs cd titled Golden Delicious. Turns out it's split between Pete Krebs and Golden Delicious. Luckily Golden Delicious is a Pete Krebs side project and the Pete Krebs portion had two songs I didn't previously have. Despite the faux pas, I'll was all good in the end.)

Hazel - Toreador of Love (The band Krebs was in prior to going solo. Apparently this is early Grunge. It's way more punk/poppy than those bands that actually made it out of Seattle.)

I love me some Bronx Casket Society... A lot better than the last couple Overkill cds (not sure about the new one have not heard it yet) I would be interested in Hazel I think... and with a name like Rumplestilkskin Grinder how can you not expect Thrash metal or at least Hardcore Punk. And what Pete Krebs cd should I get. If you were going to recommend 1 which would it be?
